The Mercenary's Tailor Albion Armorers has partnered with The Mercenary's Tailor, a small armory started by life-long armor enthusiast Alan Senefelder, located in upstate New York. We are happy to have the opportunity to offer their wares to our customers. For the past ten years, Mercenary's Tailors' goal has been to produce historically based, munitions grade armor. Like much of the armor produced in the past for European armories, quality of construction is given priority over cosmetic surface finish. While not exactly "rough from the hammer," each piece retains many of the marks imparted to it during manufacture. And like the armor of the past, due to the high level of hand crafting, slight variations ensure that no two pieces will be identical.
Munitions grade armor, unlike ornate parade armor, was produced in large
numbers to meet a specific purpose. Armor pieces were constructed and
then stockpiled against need. It was not designed to fit a specific
individual but rather the average line soldier of the time. Production
was accomplished through an almost assembly line process allowing enormous
amounts of armor to be produced in a relatively short time. Our armor
is made the same way - these are not designed in different sizes, but
are made to an average size which can be slightly altered by the individual
upon receipt if necessary. All edges are finished in a historically
accurate manner (rolled or beveled), and all pieces come strapped where
and when appropriate. Click on the links below to jump to the desired section or scroll down to see the entire line:
